Description: These sessions will explore the general practice of mantras in Buddhism and how Zen Master Seung Sahn taught it as a Zen practice. These sessions can help us clarify and understand deeper the benefits of mantra in Zen training. As with any tool, using a mantra or any technique for your practice can go a long way when you know how to use it effectively.

Session One:

The first session is an an overview of mantras in Buddhism, highlighting historical contexts, teachings and uses.

Session Two:
Monday, March 25 / 7PM Eastern

The second session will focus on the efficacy of using selected mantras for Zen training in the Kwan Um tradition.

All classes are recorded and posted within 48 hours.

About the Teacher: Kathy Park JDPSN began practicing Zen in 1999 in Paris and has trained in a number of capacities at Kwan Um Zen centers including Cambridge Zen Center and Providence Zen Center in the U.S., Su Bong Zen Monastery in Hong Kong and at Musangsa in Korea, where she participated in several 90-day kyol che retreats. She received inka (permission to teach) from Zen master Dae Bong at Musangsa in Korea in 2016, and is the co-guiding teacher for Zenseoul and Daejeon Zen groups in Korea. She is also a co-guiding teacher and coordinator of Kwan Um Zen Online, bringing online Zen teaching and support to practitioners worldwide.
