Description: This workshop offers an exploration of kong-an practice through its challenges, its language, and its transformative potential in Zen Buddhism. We will look at the major clouds and barriers practitioners face in kong-an practice—such as the tendency to overthink, the desire to solve kong-ans logically, and the temptation of impatience, pride, and the need for validation. We will also look at the challenges of kong-an practice, including the fear of failure, the pressure to perform, and the vulnerability of being seen without defenses. Can we plunge into "don't know," trust the process, and engage fully with all the senses— without neglecting any aspect of the experience? Join us as we explore the hidden gates of kong-an practice—learning to face challenges with clarity, and allowing wisdom beyond concepts to emerge on its own.

About the Teacher: Knud Rosenmayr JDPSN received inka from Zen Master Ji Kwang at Wu Bong Sa, Poland, in March 2016. He teaches regularly on Kwan Um Zen Online and is the guiding teacher of the Vienna Zen Center. He lives in Austria and works at a language school in Vienna.
